I have name changed but I am a regular. I haven't got much time so sorry if this comes out jumbled. Just really need some questions answered about going to a womans hostel.

Do I need money? do I have to pay rent/board etc.

Will they pick me up from somewhere if i don't have transport?

What is the set up once there? Do you have your own room. What about cooking? is there a shared kitchen or do staff do meals?

How do I go about buying essentials if i have no money ie food, nappies, toiletries

Will they be able to help me with clothes and things for the DC if I'm not able to take much with me?

tia, will be back later on this week if i can

Your "board" will come from housing benefit if you are entitled. If you dont have money but arent entitled to benefits and dont have money, some refuges will still take you but because it is funded from their own sources spaces are limited.

If you dont have money to get there, SS may issue you with a travel warrant.

If possible you should take with you bank documents, passports, birth certificates, etc, essential clothing and toiletries.

Some refuges have self-contained family apartments but I think most is a room with shared facilities. You are expected to cook for yourself.

The WA website can give you all this information if you have an opportunity to look through it.

Hope this helps.

P.S. If you think you are going to have to leave in a hurry, it is advised you pack an "emergency bag" with any documentation/clothing/toiletries you would need so you dont have to leave anything important behind.

If possible the bag should be left with a friend/relative/neighbour so that even if you have to flee during an incident, the bag will still be accessable to you.
