2 years ago me and DP and my son made the decision to move to my DP's home town, reasons involving work and some personal issues. These issues have now resolved themselves and I'm desperate to move back to my home town, we both are, I think. We have both agreed it's where we want to be, if we won the lottery we'd be there now. I would move tomorrow, but DP, understandably, as the breadwinner is concerned about how we will cope financially and wants to have some financial security before we move. I know we will be fine, rent is a bit higher but we would cope, we also have very supportive families and I'm happy to make sacrifices. Also we came here with absolutely NOTHING and we've survived.

My issue is that we are just wasting time being somewhere we don't really want to be, DP is self employed so it seems pointless him building up his business here if we are going to move. I just want to get on with living, instead of working to live IYSWIM, how do I persude encourage him to just bite the bullet and go for it?

What does he define by 'financial security' sounds like one of those never ending things you could be working towards forever.

How old is your son?

If it is something you are planning on doing then I would try and get the wheels in motion as soon as possible.

Thats exactly what it is I think, which is why I'm so worried will spend our whole lives working towards living!

My son is 4yo, and we have another DS together who is 1yo.

I know it's what we both want, but he just keeps stalling. We're getting married this year so he says he doesn't want to talk about moving until the wedding is over. Thats 6 months away! He said the same when I was pg with DS2, wait until we've had the baby. There will always be something!

Is your DS at school? I would imagine the younger he is the easier the tranisition to moving would be?

BattyKoda · 21/02/2010 21:03

He's part time, starts full time in September. I'm not overly worried about his transition, he's very confident and makes friends quickly, but ideally I would like to be moved ready for him to start at a school he will be statying at.

Thing is, me and dp talk about moving a lot, but it's never a serious chat IYSWIM. How do I get things moving quicker??
