What's the most romantic thing you have ever done for your dp/dh?

The most romantic thing I have ever done for a partner was writing a poem for him... using my own blood as ink. Creepy, I know, but it was my first love, and it seemed somehow right to do it.

No, I haven't done anything like that again :P

nickytwotimes · 16/12/2009 19:42

Made him a Dad.
Bit extreme....

Morloth · 16/12/2009 19:45

We are not really "romantic" types.

DH's idea of a great time, is something he loves for dinner (and maybe which I am not keen on so don't cook so often), and an early night - if he has been particularly good lately I might stop off at Ann Summers when out that day .

FabIsGettingReadyForChristmas · 16/12/2009 19:47

Given him 3 kids. .

Sorted baby sitting so we could have dinner out but then he beat me by already having booked a night away.

Had a card made and sent when I went away for the night.

merrycompo · 16/12/2009 19:49

Agreed to marry him

bootsmixandmatch · 16/12/2009 19:51

hmm

I have taken him to Barcelona (without children) for 3 nights total surprise

booked tickets for his favorite gallery then night in a hotel together once again as a suprise.

I like to hide little notes in his suitcase etc when he goes away on business, or if I am going away I will put a note in the tbag pot and under his pillow.

mumblechum · 16/12/2009 19:52

Many moons ago when the kids were little and he worked away a lot I'd sometimes pack the kids off to bed early when dh was due to get home, light loads and loads of candles, all the lights off, nice bottle of wine next to the fire and some slutty pretty undies and wait to be ravished.

Just recently I sent a lovely bouquet to him in his hotel room which he brought home anyway. He really liked that one as he's a mad keen gardener and likes arranging flowers (wouldn't think to look at him, he looks like a bouncer).

mumblechum · 16/12/2009 19:53

Oh yes I often put little notes in his sock drawer or wherever and also hide chocolate money inweird places like his shoes or washbag.

ImSoNotTelling · 16/12/2009 20:10

For his 30th I bought him a pear tree.

I thought that was pretty inspired

ImSoNotTelling · 16/12/2009 20:10

What are his hobbies/what does he like to do?

MiaWallace · 17/12/2009 08:46

Lots of good ideas.

He loves football, chocolate and films.

Like the idea of notes and chocolate coins.

I celebrated regaining my figure after having DS3 by buying some slinky underwear. I am totally not a slinky underwear person as a rule, but this was nice and shiny/satiny and reasonably priced! So I displayed myself before DH with some pride. He broke into ghastly, braying, derisive laughter. I stripped them off, threw them into a drawer and never wore them again. No, I never forgave him for it (DS3 is now 21). No. 158 in a series of Reasons Why He Is XH.

Sorry for hijack... wanders off grumbling

mumblechum · 17/12/2009 11:15

Annie. What a jerk.

notamumyetbutoneday · 17/12/2009 11:37

Suppose there are different categories of romance- theres 'sexy' like dressing up for him which Ive done and the thoughtful every day things like buying him a good luck card before an interview, giving him a massage when he looks stressed etc, but probably one of the most romantic things was for his 25th brithday writing a book of lists- 25 reasons why i love you, 25 amazing times we've had together etc. he was really moved by that.

Also, for his last birthday, he is really into the musician Tom petty but you can't get a lot of his stuff over here so got a DVD of his last tour and a book ordered from America, it took 8 weeks to arrive and the exchange rate was not in my favour but he loved them both.

MamaLazarou · 17/12/2009 11:40

That's awful, Annie. What a tit - you are well rid of him!

stillfrazzled · 17/12/2009 12:32

I nicked his favourite (numbered) football shirt, wrote to the Major Premiership Club in question and BEGGED, and the enormously rich and famous footballer whose number it was signed it. I then framed it as a surprise for our last anniversary.

Also saved up for a whole year to buy him a lovely guitar as a wedding present. And gave birth to our gorgeous DS, of course.

But suspect the footy shirt is my Best Wife moment so far

nickelbabyjesus · 17/12/2009 16:19

stillfrazzled, that's brilliant: what a fab pressie

i made a dinner with 3 courses while he was out visiting his mum and dressed up quite posh, put on a good record; then i made him ring the doorbell when he got home so it was like a date.
would have lit the candle, but the wick disappeared (one of those wide candles that sinks into itself)

he thought it was romantic.

TishTosh21 · 18/12/2009 09:33

aw nickel thats a lovely idea. I laughed out loud about the candle though!!
