Can you make yourself attracted to your husband again? Update

MRSflamesparrow · 06/06/2005 16:53

There was a thread a while back (have had a rummage through archives but I can't find the bloody thing), asking if it was possible to make yourself be attracted to your partner again.

I came on and said that we were trying a thing out of sort of starting from scratch - like we didn't have all the history, and were starting with holding hands/kissing again.

I also told whoever the original poster was that I would let them know how it worked out...

I am finally honestly able to say that I am attracted to my DH again, and am enjoying (and insisting on lots of) sex for the first time in years.

It can work.

aww - that nice

When I was diagnosed with vaginismus I was advised to do that, still got it, but it did wonders for our relationship

Now get back to work woman!!!!!

mmmmmm sounds lovely. The chance to walk down the road holding hands with your dh doesn't happen very often when you have kids. Too busy hanging on to their hands so they don't run into the road!

With vaginisimus (ignore the spelling) - they thought I might have it for a while... it turned out (as far as I can tell), my body didn't like any kind of internal sanitary product - I stopped using them, gave it a few months to be happy in there again, and pain went!!!

I think it just proves, how important it is to make time for each other. DH and I have always tried to do this, even though it's been tough at times, especially when the twins were younger and having no family support to take them off our hands.
I've always found that if you make the effort to have more sex, you tend to want it more.
Well done, MRSflamesparrow, hope things stay frequent

Yup - I had no real problems with tampons at all, and then started read up about the various reusable types thinking maybe it was something in the tampons, and tried some of those out too...

It got better with the reusables (I tried sponges and the divacup), but it didn't go completely until I stopped putting anything up there.

They would never say conclusively vaginismus though... tested me for everything in sight, and pretty much said "well that's all that's left".

Mrs FS- just wanted to say how much I admire you for hanging on in there with your Dh and making it work again.Too many people are quick to condemn when things dont work out in a marraige / partnership, but few people know how hard it can be to fix stuff.
( not sure if that makes sense??????)
well done anyway!!

hmmmm - thanks for that flame - might just give it a try! Do you think it could be anything to do with 'hormone' changes in pg?? Because my 'problem' started when I fell pg with DS1....... (let just say we had NO problem with you know what before that).......

I thought about hormone changes too... mine started before I fell pg, but after I changed my bc pill.

I came off the pill to find out if that was the case, fell pregnant instantly so never had a chance to check, and then went straight back on because I realised how easy I fall pregnant .

Things are much easier in these last couple of weeks since I am off it completely again - it had eased up loads with the stopping the tampons, but now is completely gone.
