HI there Callie and welcome. When you say you're from Liverpool, is that where you live now - if so it must be tough with your husband away so much. Before I started working part-time I took my toddler to anything and everything I could, church playgroups, library playgroups, NCT cofee mornings - singing group which she absolutely loves and we still go to together on my day off. Some made me feel worse cos I just couldn't get on with the people, but at some I met people who became firm friends and allies for trips to the park/zoo etc. Then there's stuff like tumble tots and crescendo which I think are nationwide and down here we have one o clock clubs. Your local council should have a list of under 5's activities. If it's the loneliness you're worried about there's lots more advice on this on an chat thread about feeling isolated at www.mumsnet.com/discus/messages/7/163.html?
Hope this helps

Hi CL . Yes I do live in Liverpool and DH travels back here every friday and back to London monday am. So it is quite tough on my own.
I too go to tumble tots with Georgia.I have also just started a toddler group on a weds morning with her. I suppose I just wanted to compare how many activities other toddlers were attending. I dont want to do too much but then I worry Iam not doing enough.
Iam not too isolated though as I have my family nearby and my sister is a great help.
Its great to find a site like this though to chat to other mums from UK. I have been visiting an american site for a while but its just too different over there to relate.
Thanks for replying CL hope to chat to you some more.

Callie - just do as much as feels right for you. Some SAHMs like to have one planned activity per day, to give some structure to their week, and ensure they get out of the house and see someone else every day. Others prefer to have just one or two things on. My children are now just 2 and almost 4. Sometimes we have been going to 3 or 4 things per week, othertimes none at all, it just depends how things are.

Their (and my)favourite activity is having friends round to play at our house, or at theirs. This is the best way for children to really build relationships and learn about being sociable.

Callie, is there anyway you could come to London with your husband for the occassional week?. There are loads of activities for toddlers in London and Canary Wharf has very easy transport links etc.

Hi croppy and Suew.Yes I did come to London with Dh several times last year. Mostly during the long summer holidays. Georgia was only about 4mths at the time but it was great. Dh rents a 2 bed flat in Limehouse on the docKlands so coming to stay was easy. It was only a 10min walk with the pram to canary wharf to meet dh for lunch.Their is some lovely restaurants by the waterside. Then I would wander round the shops in canary wharf.(although I dondt think I saw one other person with a pram)Before either walking or taking the DLR home.
I have to admit I was a bit wary of travelling futher afield with the baby on my own. Although the previous year when i came down to london myself and ds travrlled all over on the undergrond .and often went shopping on oxford street.Ds was 6 at the time so that was easy. I actually concieved dd on that particular trip to london. (on eclipse day!!!lol). I would love some suggestions though for places to take dd this summer in london.
