Living in an extended family

Extended · 17/06/2009 08:29

When friends find out that I am living as part of an extended family I always get asked lots of questions about how marriages and family life work in this "unusual" setting. Write a daily blog they said, so I did. Post it every day to mumsnet they said, so I did.

But zero, nil, zilch interest shown

No comments, no sign that anybody reads it. Are my family too unusual to be of interest?

OP posts:
Kathyis6incheshigh · 17/06/2009 20:48

Yes EachPeach. I couldn't help noticing that earlier in this thread, when AnyFucker says to Extended 'You are coming across as rather strange', MaryfromBrum responds, as if Anyfucker was talking to her, 'Err, I would prefer unusual rather than strange. One comes across a somewhat critical while the other is more statistical.'

harleyd · 17/06/2009 20:56

you are very strange
unfortunatly not fascinating...so i for one wont be reading

BitOfFun · 17/06/2009 21:05

I am launching a new perfume range myself...

EachPeachPearMum · 17/06/2009 21:23

@ BoF... actually Bit of Fun is a great name for a perfume!

AnyFucker · 17/06/2009 21:35

not just me then who thinks this person is either a weirdo, an attention-seeker or someone trying to gather information/opinions for her/his own use?

very strange and stilted way of talking

unless, OP, English is not your 1st language, in which case I apologise

BitOfFun · 17/06/2009 21:35

Ooh yes, with cheeky citrus top notes etc etc

AnyFucker · 17/06/2009 21:35

BOF, I would buy it

AccioPinotGrigio · 17/06/2009 21:36

Extended - if you are genuine then go for it. Blog away.

I live in an area with a much higher than average number of people living "alternative" lifestyles. Our town is fairly notorious for it. I would describe my own family life (me, dh and ds) as dead average compared to a lot of the friends we have round here and I am endlessly fascinated by their lifestyle and life philosophy.

CountessDracula · 18/06/2009 00:14

YOu sound rather normal compared to my family I must say

AnyFucker · 18/06/2009 07:06

BitOfFun · 18/06/2009 10:05

Or The Devil's Rejects...

Portofino · 18/06/2009 10:42

Is this you?

Lucifera · 18/06/2009 11:41

I just looked at the daughter blog, and frankly I don't believe it. The language is v unconvincing.

AccioPinotGrigio · 18/06/2009 12:08

Gosh - I have just read both blogs. Not what I was expecting. Strange and unedifying are the two words that spring to mind.

Extended/MaryfromBrum I am almost certain you are the same person and I am also now wondering if you are also blogging as your daughter Dawn.

If you are genuine. Can I suggest that Mummy Vanessa and Mummy Clara talk to the 'youngsters' about what has upset them (see Dawn's latest blog entry). It seems rather cruel to leave them all hanging and wondering if they have done something wrong. Rather controlling.

Also, can I speak in defence of Uncle Mark - he sounds quite sane. He is not the only questioning why Dawn is sitting on Uncle Mike's knee - how old is Dawn? She refers to herself as a youngster and yet she works and her blog displays a very mature use of language and expressions.

Puzzling but sheds light on the MaryfromBrum's weird mumsnet post about "people in distress".

GeckoLovingHornedThing · 18/06/2009 12:12

weird
strange
and why would we want to read about your family?

MrsFlittersnoop · 18/06/2009 14:50

Extended - the family situation you describe is by no means unusual amongst immigrant and farming families, hippy /communal-living folk and the land-owning aristocracy, for example.

I can only assume that as a family you are very new to online comminities and blogging because the content of your posts to date has been extremely odd and disorganised.

I strongly suggest that you spend a lot more time doing some research before you expect others to take much interest in what you write. You need to find out what people actually blog about and how they make it interesting to other readers.

CountessDracula · 19/06/2009 18:36

look something odd has been going on

I can only assume the "well known website" is this one
