For the PILS.

The story is that one BIL is an alcoholic.Today he surpassed himself and has put a brick through the PIL window for reasons unknown. They are in their late 70s/80 and can do without his self obsessed stupid shenanigans.DP and other sensible bil have gone round there now and police have been called. How do they go about this does anyone know.TIA thanks.

To get a resstraining oreder they will need to go through a solicitor - called a non molestation order. Done through the civil courts.

The Police can apply for a restraining order but that is only done on conviction of an offence such as harrassment.

You can read about the steps do it and get the forms on the HMCS website:

www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/infoabout/family_law/index.htm

You don't necessarily need a solicitor. They may be able to get help from CAB to fill out the forms or some courts have free advice services (I used them for my divorce).
