How many people have tried online dating?
I am wondering if this is the way to go? I am nervous about contacting anyone online for fear of rejection. I have been single for aaageeesssss as I put on a heap of weight but have lost 2 dress sizes now so don't feel as hideous and would like to start meeting people again. I know that the worst they can say is no but there are a LOT of skinny blond things online and I am not skinny and am no longer blond. I have visions of ending up like the crazy cat lady on the simpsons....

i do
why not give it a try?

Yes - Go for it!!!

Not allmen want skinny blonde things. I know that as I am a skinny blonde thing and the type of man who goes for someone who looks a certain steroetypical way isnt worth keeping anyway. Men like different types of women, good men adore women whether they are big, small, dark, blonde, whatever as long as there is a connection. Be who you are and think you are sexy and that's how others will see you xxxxx

My two friends whose husbands left them last year, year before, have both done online dating.

One of them has been happily seeing for 9 months a really wonderful lovely looking man who is very good for her. We can find no flaws in him!! Much nicer than her tossexH who really isnt a nice piece of work and rarely looks happy now even though all of it was his choice.

She tried www.parentsalready, but there is datingdirect too.

It's all too hard...I have been single for nearly 6 years (in every sense of the word) so would not know what to do with a man if one fell into my lap. It used to be easier when I just got drunk and was 19.
I have signed up to one site (well the free bit anyway not sure if I want to pay right now).
Ok will do it. Will contact someone.....soon.

I met my DP online and we've been together for over two years now, things couldn't be better .

It's a very sensible and fun way to meet people. If you can't get out to the bars and what-have-yous to meet the men bring them into your livingroom via your computer, you don't need to get dressed up either but can still have a glass of wine and a bowl of nuts while flirting outrageously.

I tried quite a few sites when I was dating, don't know if they're still up and running but the ones I remember are- girlsdateforfree.com
and flirtbox.co.uk

Both free, both fun.

Try it, what have you got to lose? If you don't like it don't do it anymore. You never know you might be lucky like me

There a quite a few weirdos/liars though but you get a feel for them after a while and they're not all like that.

Good luck!

aseriouslyblondemoment · 01/05/2009 14:09

well best of luck to you

Hi,

Just a thought, you could also try Plenty of Fish or Girls date for free as both are totally free. You don't feel committed then and if you change your mind and dislike the dating thing, you can simply delete your profile.

Good luck with it - I've done it and have met some great people. I know it can be hard at first and I do understand the confidence thing/reassurance issue.

Go for it
