she would sulk, but pretend she wasn't sulking

aseriouslyblondemoment · 07/01/2009 20:07

think it was me with the problem and not her

prettybutterfly · 07/01/2009 20:09

So she would. Both things.

am tempted too
but all for an easy life i guess

mablemurple · 07/01/2009 20:40

I don't know what problems you have with your mother, but I think 'sending' her something like that, out of the blue (for her, anyway) is a pretty horrid and impersonal thing to do. What are you hoping she will do with the information? Have you actually read it yourself? I ask that because it states "Confront him/her about one behavior at a time, don't bring up everything at once." To send a whole list of negative behaviours like that would be quite overwhelming and probably counterproductive.

mablemurple
relax!!
think it's very much wishful thinking on alot of our parts
it isn't meant to cause offence
purely a reflection of a very difficult relationship
its some mn-ers way of letting off steam i guess

mablemurple · 07/01/2009 20:55

not being uptight, just answering the op! As I said, I don't know the history behind it.

prettybutterfly · 07/01/2009 20:56

mablemurple, I've read it and I know that. blonde's right - it's a very black joke. Because in all seriousness, I don't know how to tackle all her mental problems when I'm still working on mine. It would just be so nice if she could read something, have the penny drop, think about how bad she makes herself feel, and the rest of us too, and begin to help herself change, before it's too late.

agree totally with prettybutterfly
but would be totally lost on mine

Same here. Spectacularly pointless.

I've just ordered something by Victoria Secunda on Amazon's 2nd hand section. It's called "When You and Your Mother Can't be Friends: Resolving the Most Complicated Relationship of Your Life".

It had good reviews.
