Hi Podmog
I have just today bought the same book - came across it by chance in Smiths. We'll have to compare notes when we have read it. I too have a sometimes difficult relationship with my mother, now tempered by the fact that she is not well.

I'll be keen to hear what you guys have to say, if the book is any good. I can never remember a time in my life when I liked my mother. She has all sorts of weird boundary issues, unrealistic expectations, done emotional blackmail. Eg, blamed me for her divorce (it was my fault I didn't try to talk him out of it...) the works. Must confess I rather suspect the book wouldn't touch on what are otherwise fairly mundane and non-mother specific relationship issues.

And more importantly, when you guys do read the book, do you think it will make you a better mother for having read it? Says she who couldn't justify buying a book at the moment....
