Do I call this relationship off even though I really don't want to?

I have been divorced for 3 years. Last month, my ex husband died suddenly leaving our 11 year old daughter in pieces.

At the time, I'd just started a new relationship with a man I met online. We have met a couple of times and DD has met him once (before her dad died).

However, my family are now saying I should call the relationship off for DD's sake. I don't see how it would help her and I really don't want to call it off as I like him a lot.

Am I in the wrong?

I don't think you should call it off if you don't want to no.

I think you should just take things very very slowly wrt your dd seeing him.

You need to think of yourself as well as your daughter and if you really like him i don't think you should call it off. Explain the situation and play it by ear. If he's worth it he will understand and give you all the time and support you need to support your daughter.

Sorry to hear that your ex has died, that must be very hard for your dd.

I can't see why you should call the relationship off, be sensitive to your dd's feelings of course but I've no doubt you were going to do that anyway.

Am confused. On what basis will calling off your new relationship help? It won't bring your DD's father back. Of course she will be upset and will need you now more than ever, but it doesn't mean you must put your own life on hold. Obviously, you will need to spend a bit more time with her and maybe not spend too much time with new man and her for a while but you can't be expected to end your new relationship. You deserve to find happiness and I hope you do

Tell him what has happened and explain that obviously you will need to provide a lot of support for your dd.

Totally agree with the others, if he's worth it he will totally understand and in return, give you the time and support you need.
