Hi, I've been married 5 years this year, does anyone know what a 5th Wedding Anniverary is (wood/tin etc). Also how long have you all been married and how do you celebrate?

Hi I think its wood. We have been married 5 years this year too.

We gave dc to my parents and went to a plush B and B for the night. It was fab (-:

Have a good time yourselves!

Alfreda · 14/07/2008 21:44

Can't remember. 13 years tomorrow

BrownSuga · 14/07/2008 21:48

we normally take a city break somehwere.

ChipButty · 14/07/2008 21:50

8 years next month. We are having a dirty weekend in...York! Being alone with him is what matters most.

Slouchy · 14/07/2008 21:51

13 years next month.
We are usually fairly low-key - nice meal in together, early night etc..

Dh will be in Dubai for the next 6 weeks though so will have a romantic chat over skype this year. sigh..

FeelingDeviant · 14/07/2008 21:56

8 years this September!
Always do something extravagant. Usually book a table at a very expensive restaurant for lunch and then take a walk and go home for an early night

Never buy presents and we don;t do cards.

SaintGeorge · 14/07/2008 22:01

19 years on the 22nd of this month.

If we can get a sitter, out for a meal and then the casino.

ScotsLassDownSouth · 15/07/2008 09:36

Beat you by a day, SaintGeorge - 19 years on the 21st of this month. As DCs are 18 and 15 we don't need a sitter, but we'll probably have a nice meal in (DH thinks I only married him for his cooking skills - he's right!) and a bottle (or two) of fizz. I've never had a pressie or card and I've never sent him one - would probably faint if I got one now!

scaryteacher · 15/07/2008 12:51

22 years in September and hopefully a good meal out in Brussels somewhere.

mumblechum · 15/07/2008 12:53

17 years in Oct. Usually go away to a nice hotel for the weekend for lots of shagging champagne.

Have never done presents but always make cards for each other.

Figfingers · 15/07/2008 16:06

Congrats to all of you.. happily married mumsnetters.

Not married but will celebrate ... 2 years together by taking him out to a surprise japanese dinner

We tend to go out a lot so better make this one special..

gscrym · 15/07/2008 16:10

We're 10yrs this year.

I'd better get a diamond. DH says he's happy with a tin of big soup or ravioli.

Knowing his way of thinking though, the diamond will be a diamond cutting disc for a stihl saw.

TheHolyGrail · 15/07/2008 16:13

20 years on the 30th of this month - hopefully ds1 (16) can cope with an over night looking after younger ds - we will be 5 mins around corner at very nice / posh b&b (after having a lovely luncheon) also very local.

Always do the cards and think we have everyone one from all the past anniversaries (we joke we should recycle the old ones now).

Does a mix of romantic and practical work or just do the practical stuff (nice coffee maker) later on??? Let me know as want to keep dw sweet .

Fizzylemonade · 15/07/2008 19:29

9 years, just time on our own, so meal out without having to cut up someone else's dinner and mop them up afterwards (dh doesn't get that drunk)

hopefully overnight stay somewhere nearby with my Mum looking after my boys.

We don't give each other cards as we seem to write messages on our notice board and the like every week. Plus text messages and e-mails during the day which is lovely and a card out of the blue.

TheHolyGrail - no practical gifts for me, I would rather that was just bought as nice present as in "I was thinking about you and thought you would like this" on another day.

For actual anniversary presents it has to be romantic, thoughtful and maybe a bit extravagant! Although I am happy with a nice box of chocolates (easily pleased)

onlygirl · 17/07/2008 10:15

4 years this month, hoping to go to a gorgeous hotel just the 2 of us.
last year we totally forgot about it, it was only my mum that remembered
