last year I dated extensively after a miserable decade long marriage ended. I’m in my 30s but get told I pass for younger (whatever that means, I think I look my age) and I found that I got to date lots of hot young men. Some wanted relationships, some turned into flings, some turned into situationships. I’m realistic about dating and men and just want short term companionship. however I get limerence every few years (this started when I became obsessed with a female teacher in primary). I have since became infatuated with a ghost. dated someone I was very attracted to last year but he lives abroad (comes to the uk every few months to see friends and family). last time he reached out was a year ago, he ended up not coming over as it was below freezing and he was at his family’s outside of London. I was very understanding but annoyed. I now regret how harsh I was with him. since then he has not messaged me as the whole thing has fizzled out. We were never compatible as we are different religions, clashed (just argued the whole time we were together) but the chemistry was intense. for the past year this man has watched my instagram stories immediately (he follows thousands of people), I thought maybe he’s just chronically online. I deleted instagram. He also watches my WhatsApp stories immediately. Even mundane ones that don’t even show my face. I’ve never had a man do this. Most give up after a few months and move on. Why continue to watch a woman for a year? Is it attention seeking? If a man wants to talk to a woman he will. I can delete him but I can’t seem to forget our brief but intense encounter. I would say he’s bored but it’s been more than a year now. shall I message him and ask him why does he continue to creep? This is a very silly but confusing thing that I can’t work out. If it was anyone else I would’ve blocked immediately but I have also never encountered behaviour like his before. sometimes he’s the only one there watching and it’s a comfort to know he’s there, even if it’s digitally. It’s embarrassing to admit this out loud as a woman of my calibre shouldn’t even be dealing with this. I am in therapy and dissecting limerence with my therapist and intrusive thoughts. i appreciate any feedback.
