Hidden apps on DH phone?

LionalRichTea · 12/10/2026 21:15

DH has just passed his phone to me so I could copy a pass code for Disney plus and while on it he got called away to deal with something here for 3-4 mins… I don’t know what made me but I had a really quick scroll of his Home Screen on his I phone for unusual looking apps. Nothing, then I spotted some apps called ‘Hidden Apps’ that are facial recognition protected?? Looked like there were 3? He had LOTS of apps on his Home Screen, loads… why would he have hidden apps? What are they for? I’m assuming dodgy?? We are in a quite tricky marriage, I’m unhappy, DH is quite unpleasant some of the time and we are totally sexless have been for 10 years… part time of me is hoping it’s actually something dodgy as it might finally give me the kick I need to do something about it all! I’m also felling a bit of an idiot as I don’t really know what hidden apps are as I don’t use / have any?

anyone

10 years with no sex. Do you think he’s been faithful without sex for 10 years?

LionalRichTea · 12/10/2026 21:17

Prob not!!

Given the context, it’s almost guaranteed that the apps are dodgy to some degree. Honestly though, what would give you enough of a kick to leave, if 10 years in an unhappy sexless marriage isn’t enough? Please don’t waste any more of your one precious, short life op.

CurdinHenry · 12/10/2026 21:20

Why do you care after a decade?

cathyandclaire · 12/10/2026 21:20

I have a hidden section that has all my banking stuff in case my phone gets stolen. Just putting an alternative out there!

wifty · 12/10/2026 21:21

I would say very likely if it’s been 10 years.

Was it him that initiated that, or more of a mutual feeling?

USaYwHatNow · 12/10/2026 21:21

Could you see what the apps were? Or were they completely locked down by the facial recognition

You are assuming that she put the block on any activity

How did you work that one out? Strange assumption from you.

Dandeloosha · 12/10/2026 21:25

Yeah, probably, but why do you care? Your marriage has been over for years. I’m only surprised he’s bothering to hide them.

Menopants · 12/10/2026 21:28

if it’s an apple phone they all have this folder with 3 greyed out boxes it doesn’t mean anything

MoshpitAtMorrisons · 12/10/2026 21:29

Did it look like this? Because I have no hidden apps, and mine looks this way.

Surely the situation you are in is reason enough?

LionalRichTea · 12/10/2026 21:32

Yes it looked like that but it prompted me to use facial recognition? I’m so crap a tech it’s embarrassing

Pretty sure the hidden apps section has facial recognition on it by default. Mine seems to and I have no hidden apps.

Mine does too, it’s standard on iPhones, because it’s trying to prevent anyone seeing it hence the hidden folder. Maybe there’s nothing in it? Could you ask him?

LionalRichTea · 12/10/2026 21:35

Thanks all

Actually, it seems to depend on the phone! My partner’s phone just says “No hidden apps” when he goes to that section. Weird!

malefields · 12/10/2026 22:28

I mean, unless he has an exceptionally low sex drive too, I would assume 10 years without sex means you’re only together for convenience.

I’m stressing out about 3 weeks, let alone 3 months or 3 years.

Bestfootforward11 · 12/10/2026 22:30

You have one life, go live it!
It doesn’t matter what the apps are.
You’re not happy, your DH can be unpleasant, and no sex for 10 years.

billandtedsexcellentadventure · 12/10/2026 22:31

I have this and no hidden apps. So does my husband.

AccidentallyOnTrend · 12/10/2026 22:34

This thread has just prompted me to realise that I have this, and no hidden apps. It still prompts Face ID, and when the Face ID works, the “ghost” apps disappear completely leaving a blank square

I’ve got hidden apps on my iphone and if facial recognition doesn’t work a couple of times in a row I’m asked for my passcode

ItWasntMyFault · 12/10/2026 23:07

I have that on my iPhone and I haven’t hidden anything. It’s asks for Face ID for mine too.

BrilliantBetty · 12/10/2026 23:18

I have the same on my newish iPhone. I don’t have anything hidden but you’d think I would from the way it appears. That said, 10 years in a no sex relationship … not sure who’s the one who doesn’t want sex or both but couldn’t blame anyone for looking elsewhere under those circumstances.
