Didn't think it was for me really, but finally signed up to an app, Bumble seemed to me to be the one to do as women have to message 1st* (more on that later) so if they aren't getting a million messages a day I thought it better. So with no pics of me holding a fish because why on earth would you do that? And no shirt off pose, not because I'm not in reasonable shape, but because I'm not a total bellend, off I went into my first foray into on line dating. What I've noticed so far- The "no drama' in the bio I see complained about on MN, well it's in women's bios too, quite a lot! Crap pics, yip, wordless bio & just one crap pic- yip & women totally hiding their figures, surely that just brings disappointment on 1st date when your date is twice the size they thought? Surprising amount of skimpy, bikini or boob shots in profiles, please wear what you want. But surely that just attracts, one nigh stand types & nob heads and dick pics? This isn't young women either, but mid 40s to 50s A week in reasonable amount of messages & likes received & surprisingly I've had no likes from considerably older women, which certainly my female friends get, mine have been from age 55 tops, I'm 53 so hardly age inappropriate, so that's probably a big difference vs women's responses. On the subject of age inappropriate though. Bumble settings on input of my age was to seek women 35-55. I mean really 35! Be a very slim proportion of 35 yr olds after men in their 50s! I think 43 for me seems more appropriate as a lower age range tbh. I thought Bumble more a long-term relationship seeking site rather than hook ups, but have seen a few of those in profiles, the one that stood out was "I'm thinking about what's in your pants, I have a sickness for your thickness" lol fairly up front! Certainly had a few women seeking validation with likes & messages, want to see they are still attractive I guess, no interest in chatting, just sending more pics & screenshot of their run times that morning. Odd. Been ghosted once, chat was great, arranging coffee date, gone. Another one an absolutely horrible nasty reply. Chat going well, suddenly turned to you are married. (I'm not!) Then a frankly unhinged really really nasty rant, concluding with telling me to fuck off. Charming! Absolutely no idea why? Decent messages. Nothing inappropriate in the chat. Disturbing. Had an odd one where the bio literally described what they were looking for as me, almost perfectly! Age, job, height, education, looks, hair the lot. I click like, then nothing! Ha * So on the men being able to message 1st thing, well yes it's possible now, but only with mutual likes, vs women who can just message directly. Well actually I think it's send a note, but men receive it anyway. However are a lot of women in bios saying 'can't see likes, so message me' well they can't see them as are on the free version & you can't see who's liked you unless you pay & as men can't message, they must be having a lonely time on there! Anyway just thought I'd add a male view as read lots on here from the female side. Agree with the comments I've read on here it's not for all & you need a thick skin etc, it's been OK for me other than one horrible human, but not really sure it's for me, I don't want to become a serial cynical swiper, but had one date, nice lady just not for me, one another planned in couple of days & I'll see after that.
