Seeking positive stories about leaving an abusive and manipulative husband

I have a very verbally abusive and manipulative husband. It's been like this for around 7 years now and i need to get the courage to leave. I'm terrified what may be on the other side, and terrified of coping financially as my husband has a very good job which is what has kept me here for so long. I do have a job as a community carer but i work part time around my kids school/nursery. I'm really looking for some positive stories from other mums who have made the jump and are so much better for it, and are truly happier.

Hello, I left. It now all seems (5 years down the line) fairly in order, except that we don’t see him at all… but the process has been hard. These guys don’t like other people taking a choice. Mine did it all from holding the kids hostage until I did a financial thing he wanted, to lying in the divorce, to hundreds of abusive messages every night, to stealing my stuff when he left.

However, now it is better. Develop a good grey rock (google it) and document everything.

Have you told a friend? You should.

I just posted a very similar thread. 🙏 solidarity to you. How old are your children? I have to believe that even if we end up in slightly less ideal material conditions, it is still much better for us and our babies to not witness that and have that affect them in the long term.
