Okay, so I (47,F) was on my way to pick up my daughter when I saw this guy at the park, getting ready to go for a jog. Our eyes met...and we just kept looking at each other. He started jogging laps around the park, and I was standing on the opposite side of the road talking to my sister on the phone. To be honest, I intentionally stayed there because I wanted to see where this was going. I really thought we had a connection. Every time he came around on another lap and reached my side of the park, we'd make eye contact again. After a while, I wasn't sure what to do. I really wanted to talk to him. Finally, after what felt like a lot of laps and a lot of looking at each other, I waved. He waved back. A couple of laps later, I mouthed, "I have to go," and used hand gestures to show that I was leaving. That's when he crossed the road and came over to me. We shook hands, introduced ourselves, and I said, "I've been here too long." He asked, "What were you doing here?" I said, "I was just staring at you." He laughed and said, "I run well, right?" I replied, "Yes...eye candy!" We exchanged numbers, and after I left, I sent him a text on WhatsApp: "Hey, if you don't know already, I am your park stalker!😬" It's now been over 24 hours, and...nothing. No reply. I'm genuinely trying to understand what happened. Poof, gone! Did he just feel awkward saying no when we exchanged numbers and then decide to ghost me later? Why do people do this? What's the thinking behind it? Is this avoidant behaviour, or is it something else entirely? Also, why does it feel like people are more comfortable talking to complete strangers on dating apps than someone they've actually met in real life? I'd really love to hear both men's and women's perspectives. If you were him, what do you think might have been going through his mind? Should I even text him again?
