Hi,
I’ve been with my partner 15 years and when we got together he came to live with me. We moved around 6 years ago and he bought a flat and I bought my house. He has now sold this flat moved in with me permanently and has also put in some money for some renovations. I would like to know the best way to deal with this legally without too much risk other than protecting his money if anything untoward should happen. Many thanks!

Deed of Trust to reflect your shares.

Deed of trust.

But get decent solicitors and think through all the "what if X?" situations, because most solicitors aren't great at them and you'll end up with a document that doesn't specify what's to happen in the majority of cases, and also leaves you without a remedy. So make sure all the situations, and the appropriate remedies, are covered.
