What to buy from Ann Summers

Been with my new bf a few months. I want to buy a sexy outfit from Ann summers maybe a bodysuit or suspenders. This is my first relationship since my divorce and h sex life was non existent so I’m new to this. Would it be ok to txt him and just say something along the lines of getting a new outfit what do u like? Or would that sound weird.

Ah. You mean I'm wrong to have an opinion that differs from yours?

Edited

I don’t think it’s the difference of opinion it’s the tone you’re doing it in. For someone who seems concerned with that may or may not be tacky or classy, I’d look at how you’re talking to people.

Absolutely 100% grumpy! What's wrong with wanting to wear some sexy lingerie to surprise a partner?!? In a woman married to a woman. There is nothing cheap about either of us. We are boringly middle class. I'm not sure what makes you think someone who likes to see their partner in sexy lingerie is a certain type of person?! My wife has slept with just a couple of people, is loyal, kind, not 'tacky' in any way but also very much enjoys the odd occasion I put some sexy lingerie on under an outfit for a night out.

Everyone's idea of what is sexually arousing is different.
Personally when I see the adverts for Ann Summers on here all I can think is why would someone demean themselves to wear this stuff? They don't look " sexy" they look desperate. But that's my personal opinion.
If it turns you and your partner on then fair enough.

I'm struggling to see why OP started this thread. She likes Ann Summers outfits. She knows her boyfriend does. So why start the thread other than just to advertise the brand?

And yes AS is cheap and tacky, but there's a place for cheap and tacky, even in otherwise non cheap people and relationships

It's neither cheap nor tacky. Why comment on something you obviously know nothing about?

I'm struggling to take this thread seriously because I dont see any reason for the OP starting it.
I'm struggling to take a lot of the replies actually praising Ann Summers products seriously.

I just feel that women being conned into thinking Ann Summers outfits are sexy just shows how much porn culture is influencing sex in relationships: That a women's place in the relationship is to present themselves as an object for the man's pleasure.

As I said earlier yes agreed Ann Summers do sell some things that are like something out of a porno ( which some people may like ) but they also do sets that are pretty and don’t look tacky. I don’t think people necessarily only dress up for their partner it’s for themselves too. It’s a confidence boost sometimes, and why shouldn’t us women ( or men ) have that?

didgeridid · 20/05/2026 09:08

How had this turned so serious and personal 🤣 it's underwear FFS 🤣
@Mondaymorningagainnnnhave a look on their website or even love honey and see if anything grabs your attention. Definitely don't listen to @Somethingblandir you'll end up with bloomers 🤣

I own stuff from AS and enjoy wearing it.

However, it is tacky. There's really no getting away from that. Its kind of an objective reality in the same way that Chanel is elegant.

Someone is winding everyone up and having some handy ‘fun’ here guys 🙄🍆

Really? An internet full of every type of porn and someone is really getting off to women debating whether or not Ann Summer lingerie is tacky or not??

I agree that their ads stem from porn culture. However, and I say this as an absolute lefty feminist 'sensible shoe' wearing lesbian. Sometimes the person you sleep with just really enjoys seeing your boobs in a lacy push up bra. It doesn't automatically make that person bad, a 'type of' person or a member of the Ann Summers marketing department.

Gosh, I had no idea that Ann Summers outfits aren't sexy.

Is there anything else we should know?

Perhaps chocolate isn't tasty after all, or blue is the best colour?

Please do enlighten us. Where else are we being conned?

Maybe just some nice underwear from Boux avenue or Pour Moi.

Brightbluesomething · 20/05/2026 19:32

Well this went downhill quickly 😂
AS bras are good and they go up to larger cup sizes unlike most places on the high street. There’s no shame in it, it’s just a shop.

OP - ask him what he likes and see where the conversation goes. Have a look online or even better go there together. It’s quite good fun.

Ignore the pearl clutchers, if it’s something you want to do then go for it.

I agree, you have no idea how much a black polo shirt with a plumber/cable company/pizza logo turns me on….Porn really has influenced us all🤣

we understand your opinion but we don’t need it rammed down our throats! How about only discuss what’s relevant to the OP on this thread?

to the OP, I guess you could just have casual discussion. Nothing beats a bit of black or red lace, tastefully done of course. Stay away from fishnets, porn can have them🤣

I' expect OP knew even before she started the thread what she was going to buy it comes over to me that she must have thought Ann Summers was in need of a bit of free advertising .

Flannelfeet · 20/05/2026 20:57

A ball gag? 🤣🤣🤣.

StarlightLady · 21/05/2026 08:18

OP, if you opt for suspenders you are better off buying a Fantasie suspender belt. They are more robust and practical for day to day wear, rather than just the bedroom. They still look pretty though.
