Alpine Divorce

There’s a thing in the New York Times about “Alpine Divorce” - basically the thing where someone who is really into hillwalking / skiing / rock climbing / biking takes a partner up the mountain or trail then strides off, leaving them to make their own way. Basically it says that if a partner does this, you should never see them again.

What do you think? It rather struck a chord with me.

Well obviously! It's what that bloke in the Alps got done for.

My thought exactly.

Well yeah.. if someone shows you that they hate you, believe them.

If I remember right, he'd done it before to a previous girlfriend, who mercifully didn't die.

Well, it’s not all partners. It’s basically men leaving their less experienced female partners to die.

the more common problem of men marching off because their gf is too slow is a massive red flag and women need to get rid of men like this immediately.

how does it strike a chord. Is your partner like this?

No but I have had boyfriends who would do that. And I would feel a bit embarrassed that I was slow rather than annoyed that some dude had marched me up a mountain and then was impatient.

yes - they are everywhere. And I think we’re conditioned to think we’re in the wrong.

glad you got rid of them though
