Any other single parents here caring for a disabled child alone?

I’m a single parent to a disabled (profoundly) non verbal child (ASD) and just wondering if anyone is in a similar position? I do have an older DC who I see now and again but mostly it’s just me and DS(9) day in, day out apart from when I’m in work.

I adore DS and he’s is such a happy little boy but it can be very quiet and lonely just the two of us now compared to being a part of a family unit. (One year separated)

Any other single parents out there with disabled DC?

Didn’t want to leave you without replies. Love your user name!
Lots of experience of SEN ( especially ASD) as a Mum and professionally.
Must be so tough on your own and you sound like a lovely caring Mum.
Is he attending Special School? If so I’d ask if there are any groups or play schemes/ respite they can recommend. You could also look on your LA SEN Local offer to see what’s available.
Any close family or friends nearby to support?
You might get more responses on the SEN boards.

Yes but I have 4 with varying degrees of autism. They don’t see their father.
