If you have children the answer is no, unless you also get 10-15 hours a week free time.

My DH goes to the gym at least 5 times a week; a mix of weeknights after work and weekends. The mix of this very much depends on how late he finishes (he drives fuel tankers, so based on how many jobs and where the sites, any traffic problems on the road and any other issues like breakdowns etc) as well as any plans we have for the weekend, but he will flex around as needed.

He’ll generally spend 90mins to 2 hours there, depending upon how busy it is, if he needs to wait to use equipment, what body part he’s training that day, and what kind of day he’s had. As DH uses the gym as a big outlet for his stress and it helps to manage his ADHD, this time has never been an issue.

I suspect there is more to this as to why you’re asking. Do you not believe he’s actually going to the gym or that he’s spending longer there than necessary to avoid household duties or spend time in the company of someone else?

I don't understand how people who work and who are in relationships ever spend any time with their partners if they have a gym habit similar to the one you describe OP. And if they also have DC then it's even more inexplicable.

I understand that people want to keep healthy and fit but there seems to be growing problem of addiction to gyms.
Coupled with the problems of people forming inappropriate relationships with people at their gyms. Or using going to the gym as a cover for other behaviour .

So no I would not consider ypur DH's time he says he as at the gym acceptable or normal OP.

My partner does. But its usually during the week before work. He will go on day on the weekend and I have a lazy morning. Hes usually back before 10.30/11am anyway. If we have plans he will go another day or not at all.

Thank you everyone , we do have kids and he goes on an evening mostly after putting them to bed . I know he’s at the gym but I just didn’t know if people actually spend that amount of time in the gym.
he will go around 8pm and come back around 11pm.

Does he look like he goes to the gym ? It has become very competitive recently so this can be normal for some.

He’s been going for a while now possibly a few years but he doesn’t have a gym body probably just bigger arms and a little bit of back.
if I say anything he will say how often do I go to the gym I’ll always end up missing days or not eating write with you all , if you want to make a propert body then you have to be disciplined and eat right all the time and not miss any days.

he said some people be in the gym 4/5 hours a day

He does help at home with household chores and with the children , he goes in the evenings after kids have gone to bed it was more so with the time he spends there sometimes over 2 hours.
so i was just wanting to ask if that’s too much time for the gym or if it’s normal
