Couples therapy on NHS?

Looking for opinions or suggestions on if this was helpful. I can see I can refer myself, it says one person needs to have depression.

I am Peri-menapausal and struggling with low mood along side grieving a parent. Due to start HRT soon and hope this will help. If not maybe I do have depression.

This is not the reason for our marriage problems though. We are stuck in a bad pattern of arguments, misunderstanding and poor communication. Resentment has built and now we are not resolving issues but carrying on day to day life. Emotionally we are not well
connected but remain faithful.

A part of our issue is financial worries and so paying for private help not really an option and would likely stress our relationship more.

Any suggestions or advice about how to get some help.

You won’t get couples therapy for relationship problems on the NHS. If your problems are triggered by financial concerns, you’d be better off seeing what free advice is out there for money management, debt, etc. Citizens Advice might be able to direct you to something or one of the debt charities. Relate probably does concessions rates, but therapy is not a quick fix so will be a long term investment.

Contact your local Talking Therapies service directly. Many of them do indeed offer couples therapy where the "identified client" is depressed, I definitely think you can say you come under that category. It won't be long term and it may feel a bit manualised rather than exploratory, but it can't hurt.
