I’m in pieces trying to accept my relationship is over
we have two girls 4&3. Husband had a horrible childhood but when we met seemed to very much have his shit together. Always had a bit of a temper but recently I’m seeing it more and more.

He’s career focused in a high pressure job with lots of travel. I’m very much the default (also working) parent and it’s caused so much resentment.
in arguments he’s said some nasty things, told me to F off, called me a C, bitch, shut the F up etc etc and refuses any therapy or accountability, everything is always my fault. I am desperate to be a happy family but I know the reality is he won’t change and I can’t bring up my girls around the toxicity.

I need some positive stories of relationships like this either getting better (!) or light at the end of this very dark tunnel. Thanks!

Hi, I didn’t want to read and run. Unfortunately I don’t have any experience to add, however you might get more help on the divorce/separation board. I hope other people can help you more, good luck.

Sounds like he is abusive and it's over. If he has no insight I can't see how there would be a way forward. You can't have your girls growing up thinking this is normal in a relationship. Maybe get your own therapy to work through why you've tolerated this and how to get yourself into a place where you can leave? Relationship therapy is not recommended in abusive relationships. If you've been the default parent anyway and are working you're in a better position than many. So sorry. Ducks in a row as they say.

@Twobigbabiesthank you, i totally agree with you. I’ve tolerated it because the last couple of years with two small children have been a blur, but now my eyes are fully open, I just find myself asking ‘is it THAT bad?’ But my pre children self wouldn’t have tolerated being told to fuck off once, let alone repeatedly
