v. sad telling my mum about my father's abusive behaviour

I have just spoken to my mum and she was saying that she is really very upset that my dad slags me off at every available opportunity.

He has always been a violent and threatening man and beat me up regularly until I was 16. He continues to send threatening and abusive letters. I have been advised to keep them in case I need to take out an injunction against him. Unfortunately the police were not involved when they should have been.

I told my mum that my father is a criminal, guilty of wife-beating and child abuse. He hit, threatened and bullied all of his children and all of us have suffered significantly. One of my brothers has been known to beat his wife and lock up his step-children. The police have been involved. He now has children of his own and with his history I fear for their safety.

Keeping my own family safe is of prime importance and I have a fantastic husband, who is also suffering at the hands of my psychopathic father.

I don't know what the future holds but I said to mum that my father will no longer see us or his grandchildren with his continuing behaviour. My mum has early Alzeimers and is very very vulnerable.

Sorry so long

I think you need to take out an injunction. Is your mum still with this monster man?

Yes, still there after 45+ years. She says she didn't know how awful he was . I think she didn't think that people could behave the way he does.
