Would you mind if your partner of 3 years received a text from their children’s Mum or Dad which says:

’Hows your day been? I’ve woken up with a banging headache this morning xx “ & calls from/to them in their call list, one being 15 minutes long.

A bit more context needed. Was he with them last night?

Yung93 · 01/02/2026 12:45

No apparently he was at his caravan

Was the first message actually sent to the right person ?

Yung93 · 01/02/2026 12:46

But he was messaging and ringing me that night so this is what is confusing me.

I don't like the dynamic of exes as friends that still text regularly..this isn't like: I'm too ill to look after the kids, I have to go into surgery or I got diagnosed with cancer.. texts like i have a headache are too matey banter it's too close for my liking. Texts should be about the children or key big things happening.

Calls between co-parents are not unusual. 15 min is not a long time. Unless calls are at weird times, maybe - I’d not give it much thoughts.
Text needs context. Maybe a wrong person text.

Generally - if you are jealous of an ex and need to check messages, it’s not a good sign.

A lot more context, me and him have been on a break for past two weeks because I was overwhelmed and have really bad insomnia and we would have little disagreements.

We went out for food last night to speak because I haven’t seen him for past two weeks. Whilst out lastnight she rang him about a delivery he had sent to hers for his daughter and then she was asking him about his day I assume because I heard him saying yeah I’ve been well busy ect.

After this, I mentioned I’m glad you are on good terms with her because all he ever did was disrespect her to me. He said ohh I never speak to her but he seemed nervous so I asked to see his phone. We was out at 7pm she had sent him that message at 5pm. So I said why are you lying you said you don’t speak to her. He said well since we’ve been on a break I’ve been able to see my daughter more. I was shocked because I’ve never said he can’t see his daughter. So then I was like that sounds or seems to them, that when you are with me you can’t see her and I don’t want to be part of that because it seriously makes me feel sound bad.

If you're policing his phone the relationship is dead anyway.

Gazelda · 01/02/2026 13:10

You don’t trust him. Your relationship was already unstable.

perhaps a permanent break would do you good. It would give you chance to focus on sorting your insomnia and get your general wellbeing back on track.

He is so manipulative and icky

TwistedWonder · 01/02/2026 13:14

Is this how you really want to live OP?

LouiseMadetheBestBroccoliPasta · 01/02/2026 13:23

@Yung93 "since we’ve been on a break I’ve been able to see my daughter more"

Sounds like DARVO to distract you away from what you're suspecting is going on. It's manipulative.
