  1. A man who doesn’t have a passport and never travelled out of their country. You mean to tell me you never got out of the country ? Two possibilities. You are an extreme nationalist and think other countries are inferior. Or you simply boring. I am not into people who refuses to travel. People who refuses to travel are the grouchiest motherfuckers ever.
  2. A man who drives a big ass oversized pick up truck or SUV. Not the F150s. Those are reasonable sized trucks. I am talking about those men who drive ford F250s or even Ford F650s and GMC sierras, Cadillac Escalade. You are not cool at all. You look stupid.
  3. A self proclaimed passport bro. Women in the US and other western countries aren’t tolerating your bullshit so you go in the poorest areas in developing countries and seek desperate women seeking refuge and you taking advantage of that.
  4. A man who is afraid to fly. Plane crashes are rare and there are millions of planes flying right now worldwide and 9 times out of 10 they land safely. They take the passengers from A to B without incidents. Even banned airlines from third world countries rarely have crashes. Lock in and face your fears fuck face 🙄.
  5. A man who is a vegan or a climate activists. If you start lecturing me about how using AC or heat is damaging the planet or how eating meat is cruel you getting blocked 🚫.
  6. A man who voted for trump. You supporting a predator if you voted for that orange dictator.
  7. A man who does travels but only goes to all inclusive resort destinations or stick to the crowded touristic areas or even worst, uses travel agents to book trips. That’s what peasants do. Get out of my face. Say I am with a man and he says “oh let’s go spend a week in Montego Bay Jamaica at this nice all inclusive or let’s go to Punta Cana” it would be an instant turnoff. If a man invites me to a cruise or some all inclusive dystopia, I am breaking up with him through text message and I am blocking his number and I am blocking him on all social media pages.
  8. a man who is rude to waiters and waitresses.
  9. a man who is broke.
  10. a man who has no female friends.

I bet most of us have.

I think they were referring to the lousy spelling

FrodoBiggins · 26/01/2026 23:24

MeTooOverHere · 26/01/2026 22:39

OP sounds to me like English is not her first language. I'm thinking from a French speaking protectorate because of her focus on historically French connections to many of those listed locations.

Also sounds to me like she's touting for business, if you know what I mean.

Yes I think this is probably right
Not heard someone so excitedly listing French territories since my A Level prof Mme Martin was trying to teach us about DOMs/TOMs for some reason.

CamillaMcCauley · 26/01/2026 23:27

Well, since you asked, Carmen Sandiego, what gives me the ick in both men and women is snobbery and bragging.

FrodoBiggins · 26/01/2026 23:28

Oh and fwiw my ick is when men don't drink coffee. I know it's completely unfair but there you go. Hot chocolate is the worst alternative. Awful.
As we're doing unhinged lists from best (top) to worst is

  • normal coffee of any kind
  • tea
  • decaf coffee or tea
  • doesn't like hot drinks
  • hot chocolate
exhaustDAD · 27/01/2026 07:07

At least you acknowledge that it's "completely unfair" @FrodoBiggins . That list is...wow. An exclusive focus on hot drinks. First I wast convinced that it is a joke. (Still not sure it isn't, it's so bonkers)

Gettingbysomehow · 27/01/2026 07:15

Men who cant drive.
Ones who cant control their temper.
Men who don't like cats.
Farage supporters.
Non vegetarians who only eat steak.
Those who don't care about the environment.
Im sure Im a walking ick myself in my leopard print slippers and cats everywhere but Im past caring.

I’ve been to plenty of countries you probably never heard of.

ever heard of Surinam ? Guyana, French Guiana, Dominica, Grenada, St Lucia, Reunion island, New Caledonia, Mayotte ?

bet you never heard of those. Everyone goes to Jamaica or the Bahamas. Which are played out.

Mums Net is pretty British so travel is what British people do quite a lot of. Your list seems pretty focused on the American continent.

Perhaps widen your expeditions eg maybe to exploring the Piero della Francesca trail in Umbria or having a camel race in Northern India. Or like a few people I know getting bragging rights for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro or Everest.
So saying, my daughter was content just to have climbed Mount Fuji.

NowStartingOver · 27/01/2026 09:35

Seems like the list is:

  • Men who don't travel. They are bigots.
  • Men who travel. They are bigots.
LemonAndGingerMarmalade · 27/01/2026 09:39

Also

Men who haven't been to the places I have. They are stupid.

Satsuma55 · 27/01/2026 09:44

joseline · 26/01/2026 17:33

When I meet other people who have been to France, 9 times out of 10 they have been to Paris. Nowhere else.

You're on Mumsnet... 😂... we're ALL over France, all the bloody time.

Helpnifoseeker · 27/01/2026 10:05

joseline · 26/01/2026 17:25

I’ve been to France. But again. I don’t just go to popular trendy tourist spots.

i have been to towns that are not well known at all.

Pierrelatte, Roche sur yon, vannes, Rennes, le Croisic, Poitier, Lourdes, Ménerbes, clisson, Pornic, Pornichet, pont st esprit, Nantes, St Malot.

Lourdes is not well known? Are you having a laugh?
It's one of the most famous Marian shrines and pilgrimage sites for Catholics in the world, being the place St. Bernadette saw and spoke to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
100s of 1000s of people go there every year. In fact bus loads have been going from Ireland alone for decades and there would barely be an Irish person, (or a Catholic of any nationality,) on the planet who didn't know about Lourdes!

Are you for real? Been to all those and many more - you aren’t the authority on world travelling nor are some of these less popular places exclusive to you.

St Lucia is a very very popular destination to a lot of people from the US/Canada. You aren’t special.

And frankly a big truck if it’s needed (contractor, farmer etc) is fine. YABU

Dozycuntlaters · 27/01/2026 10:10

God, there are so many. Here's a few of mine

Neediness/insecurity
No work ethic/drive
Men in sandals
Men in PJ's
Men in dressing gowns
Men in white trousers
Men who still live with mummy
Men who drink too much
Men who spend too much time sleeping
Men who have no friends/social life....I do not want to be their everything

A lot of those are ridiculous..... I have decided to stay single.

Dozycuntlaters · 27/01/2026 10:11

Thought of some others - probably top of my list

Depressive men
controlling men
Shouting/sulking men
Men who dont like animals
Men who dont like walking/ the outdoors

Goditsmemargaret · 27/01/2026 10:18

OP, you're American and you're posting on a mainly UK site. That's fine and you're welcome to be here but you're demonstrating one of the key traits that winds up the rest of the world about Americans; you believe you as an American are the global standard.

People in the UK travel a lot more than Americans. I'm not British but next door neighbour Irish and I couldn't believe when I lived in the US how many people didn't even have passports.

The places you have listed are not unusual places to visit for us. We do not consider you well travelled or adventurous. I'm sure your American peers do but we don't.

I think your list is fine though.

I would be turned off by an insistence to go to an all inclusive resort.

Other ICK factors :
Working long-term in a job you dislike with no plans to change
Heavy drinker
Any kind of drug user
Not able to cook / do laundry
Racism
Bad manners
Swearing

They probably aren't ick factors really though, as ICK is a sort of irrational turn off and mine are basic standards.

I do remember when I was in my dating days I found it very unattractive when a man couldn't drive and didn't even feel bad about. I knew this was massively hypocritical as I couldn't drive - but i couldn't help it.

NowStartingOver · 27/01/2026 09:35

Seems like the list is:

  • Men who don't travel. They are bigots.
  • Men who travel. They are bigots.

Lets not forget men who travel to places like Thailand - they are all disgusting perverts 😀

CruCru · 27/01/2026 11:07

I lived in the US as a child and my Dad stayed there until he retired. One of the things that surprised me was how incredibly expensive it was to go abroad from the US compared with the UK. I can understand some people not having been to Europe, Africa or Asia when they live in the US. Perhaps more surprising if they haven’t been to Canada.

Given all the chat about various countries, have you played the Jetpunk name all the countries in the world within 15 minutes? It’s surprising what is a country and what isn’t.

Blondiebeachbabe · 27/01/2026 11:35

Men who can't spell or have poor grammar

Men who say "wanna" instead of "I want to"

Men who say "ect" instead of "etc" (et cetera is the full spelling)

Men who leave words out of sentences

Men who start sentences with lower case letters

Men who say "specially" instead of "especially"

Men who write town names without a capital letter at the start

Men who insert random full stops in the middle of sentences

Men who say "you", when the word required in the context is "you're"

Men who are aggressive and call other people "fuck face", for no reason

Men who dump people by text and then block them, like they were 12 years old

Men who can't do basic maths : if 9 out of 10 planes landed safely every day, this would mean that around 10,000 planes would crash every day

Of course Op, you are forgiven for all of the above offences, because you are female and American 🙄

Slightyamusedandsilly · 27/01/2026 12:28

Sabrinatheblue · 26/01/2026 17:29

What, you think Lourdes, home to miracles and pilgrimages from around the world is not well known?

That was my p7 school trip destination op. Surely you are on the wind up?

OP got out the dictionary, looked up some places and wrote a goady post for attention. Sad really.

Imbusytodaysorry · 27/01/2026 12:39

Mumptynumpty · 26/01/2026 16:37

Jeez 🫤

Are you ok?

This

Imbusytodaysorry · 27/01/2026 12:42

Roobetharack · 26/01/2026 16:48

You're not serious - those are very well known places!

I know right . Jeeze this made me laugh 😆

Tonissister · 27/01/2026 12:46

I'm weird about men who don't eat vegetables or drink tea or coffee. I just feel like they are not grown ups. Probably very unfair.

Most of the time, i am not keen on beards. But there are some exceptions to this - those big bearlike men in lumberjack shirts look good with beards.

exhaustDAD · 27/01/2026 13:10

Everyone is entitled to who they like and who they penalise for quirks, personality traits or individual preferences, but all of you who have an issue with someone not drinking coffee is just mind-blowingly incomprehensible to me.
Imagine this: You drink your coffee a certain way. One way or maybe two.. That's the way you like it, that's the way you drink it. Someone would look at you and go ew, the only way you should be drinking your coffee is MY way. Doesn't that sound ridiculous? Because anyone who doesn't drink coffee only chooses not to drink them ALL the ways you don't + yours. Just wow.
I for one, don't drink it, never did, I hate the taste - I only use it when I make tiramisu, plus I can function as an adult without crawling on the floor in the morning until I get my "fix" like a lot of coffee enthusiasts I know. Because that is super "mature" and adult too.. not being able to start your day without getting a cup of warm liquid.
Sorry, I know it sounds a tad aggressive, but it genuinely boggles my mind.

Bibi12 · 27/01/2026 13:35

nietzscheanvibe · 26/01/2026 17:59

@joseline Planes land safely "9 times out of 10"? Jesus Fucking Christ, I'm surprised anyone flies at all if 1 out of 10 planes are crash landing! 🤣

As a bloke who doesn't much care for flying, and who no longer has a passport, I can honestly say that your weird ranting post has given me the "ick".

Edited

Most people grow out of having tantrums about unimportant stuff around the age of 2- 3 🤣. OP is a walking red flag.

Oh it's completely unfair. Thankfully I have a DH and he likes coffee so I'm not actually inflicting my prejudice on any men.
The list is just my personal "mens hot drink preferences in order of least to most ick", I do have other standards. Non as mad.
