How to get over the overwhelming sadness my happiness depended on his happiness how ever sad that sounds I felt happy when I felt loved and cared for now he’s lost interest we are still together but he’s checked out and I feel so empty and sad and like each day has no purpose and I can’t focus on anything I feel sick and just want to cry but I can’t as I have to hold it together for everyone else around me

End things abd focus on rebuilding a life that suits you and focuses on your needs?

Annon224485 · 29/12/2025 23:38

I no I should but I can’t end it because I know I will be even sadder and it will hurt more if I lose him completely I can’t cope with that right now

How long has it been can't you fix it?

WeAreNotOk · 30/12/2025 00:01

Who is the 'everyone else around me'? Can't they support you, or are they children?
It's going to sound really harsh, but a statement like 'my happiness depended on his happiness' is probably the reason it's all come to an end. That's way too much, for you, for them and quite honestly, unhealthy.
If it's definitely the end of the relationship then I think you need to seek counselling or something. You need to get a life, of your own, make yourself happy.

If you don't want to end it, then don't end it. But so some work on yourself in the meantime.
We all feel happier when we are lived but it's very difficult to love a person who is completely reliant on you for their wellbeing. Get out of the house, find some hobbies. Become "busy". Give him a break and focus on other things to make you happy. You never know, it may shift things. Or, you may even decide that you don't need him in your life at all. Change starts with you.

A bit more info needed as hard to advise otherwise. How long have you been together and do you know what has caused the change in his feelings/ attitude towards you?
