Dating with children

Ive been dating someone under a year and I have children, they don’t. I use my annual leave to spend time with my children. I also have to be careful with money so also only plan to have holidays with my children.
I am happy in the relationship and I already spend time and money on restaurants and theatre etc which leaves me less disposable income to use with my children.
Is it unrealistic or unreasonable to expect someone to be happy with that for several years?

I doubt it. Those without children won't understand.

If he’s still with you then I would say he’s happy enough with it. If you date someone with children this is the kind of thing you surely accept.

I think just have an honest and open discussion about how much time and money you (genuinely) have for the relationship. It will allow ‘them’ to decide

I have been honest but then trips get mentioned or planned. Think I will need to talk again.

I think it’s reasonable for a person with no kids to want trips as part of a relationship. If this isn’t possible for you, it will likely be a deal breaker so best to have a very frank open discussion between you.

Yes it’s not unreasonable for a person to want to do normal relationship things like trips.

edit: i misread,

I mean yes, i would be happy considering that you actually do see each other and go out. I would not be put off at all. And also once you are okay with him around kids, you can even have days out with kids , that adds to your time together. But if you cannot do any over night etc, years are just not possible if you were to be realistic

My last situation she had her kid 24/7 , 3 months in i realised it just does not work as i can only see her after bed time. This is the only situation that would not work

Where's it going? Does he want kids? Is he well off?
Will you progress in your career and ever earn more?
