How to introduce kids to new partner

myself and new partner both have a child each, same age (6). We are considering introducing them in the new year where we will have been together about 7 months.

what is the best way to do this?
and what pace do we move at?

We were thinking maybe as part of a bigger group with other children so it takes the pressure off then doing something just the four of us and also thought me spending time with him snd his child and vice versa.

Any advice welcome.

Thank you to everyone who has actually given me good advice on here. I appreciate the advice and I want to say it may sound like I want to rush in but I was thinking about how to do things before I I’d even met anyone as that’s how I am. I certainly won’t be Introducing as a partner but just a friend and will be taking it very slow.

Our DC were a few years older than yours but we basically arranged to meet at a local trampoline park and let the kids interact as they pleased. The dynamics were slightly different as we have 2 DC each but it worked well. That was after we’d been together around 5-6 months. We’ve not blended families but we’ve spent some weekends and holidays together - sometimes they get along like a house on fire and sometimes they don’t. What works for us is that neither of us attempts to parent the other person’s DC.

I would be wary of introducing him as a friend then revealing later that he is a partner, I think that’s confusing and down the line might cause issues.

We've all given you advice, whether you think it's good or not is, of course, up to you.
