1st date to 2nd date

Stupid question:
Courtesy of OLD, a successful 1st date.
Exchanged phone numbers before parting.
A brief overnight exchange that mutually said nothing more than "that was nice, let's do it again." Which is fine.
How long before a follow-up?
(FWIW, 50+, male, adequately confident, but 25yrs out of practice and seeking advice. )

How long before messaging?! You cannot be a grown up!

Humanswarm · 01/08/2025 18:49

Next day is fine if you want to say that you enjoyed the date and make loose plans. See how the land lies with any responses. Keep it breezy and light.

I was impressed that after the first date he messaged me the same evening suggesting a date on the next Thursday/Friday/Saturday or Sunday.

I think the next day evening is perfectly fine if you’re keen and want to keep the momentum going that is. I remember my 50 plus ex messaged me after I was due to get in to check I’d got home safe and I thought that was really nice and then he messaged me again the next day to say what a lovely time he had which I really liked that confident proactive messaging from him. It sort of made me fancy him a little more!

Mumlaplomb · 01/08/2025 21:28

Fairly soon after the date to keep the momentum going I think.

Freeflight · 01/08/2025 21:35

Just be yourself. If someone is interested in you then it won't matter how soon you message after a date.
