Bank card frozen because DH bought porn

Help please ladies! …a couple of months ago me and DH were out for a meal and his bank card was refused so used mine instead. The next day his card was again refused in supermarket. I suggested he call bank and he seemed shifty speaking to them and made up some rubbish reason for his card being locked. Anyway about a month later he admitted the bank froze his card because he tried to ‘buy’ a porn film. I didn’t make a massive deal of it because he came clean. Now call me naive but do banks usually freeze cards for buying ‘standard/ regular’ porn or do they only freeze cards for anything more hard core or illegal? It’s really playing on my mind! It was his own bank account not the joint one so I can’t check his transactions

Banks tend to freeze cards due to fraud.

So it's possible he clicked on a link with a virus/scam site.

But if you say he came clean, why can't you ask him to show you his account?

Feelingdownbutnotout · 29/05/2025 21:39

So are you OK with him watching porn so long as it's " standard / regular " porn?

What do you class as " standard / regular" porn?

Tiredofwhataboutery · 29/05/2025 21:40

The bank has frozen my card before for trying to buy top up for a mobile phone. Apparently the website is well known for stealing card details.

He just needs to order a new card.

It's more likely that lots of people have reported fraudulent transactions (some might be, some probably making excuses for transactions appearing on their account) so the bank was just checking it was genuine. Don't worry, it's as mundane as checking your Amazon purchase that's slightly more money than you'd usually spend was you.

on Facebook there are many porn profiles where scammers have stolen the photos and videos of real porn models and actresses and they provide links to gullible idiots to entice them to see more explicit content.

Of course the links are for phishing purposes with a view to scamming the idiots.

It’s possible something similar happened to your repulsive husband.

Phone the bank and ask what their policy is.

I might be missing the point but he didn’t buy a “normal” porn film. He’s deep into cam girls territory at least. Unless he’s a pornography connoisseur who buys every title out there… I don’t know which is worse.

Australiaday · 29/05/2025 22:14

Hi Op,
Sounds odd her would buy a porn film? when you can stream thousands for free. Or maybe he was signing up for the premium membership’s on the sites?
Would it be more that he had bought a video off a specific camera girl ? Paid for a service .
I would approach calmly and say I want to know more as this doesn’t add up in my head and is stressing me out . I want to see your statement . He will show you if he has nothing to hide.
xx

cosmicbabe · 29/05/2025 22:33

You don’t pay to watch normal Porn… it’s everywhere for free. I’d question this and it seems he may have ‘come clean’ to try and hide something worse….

Annoyingwhineycat · 29/05/2025 22:38

God, yet another porn addicted man…

Blackdow · 29/05/2025 22:41

They won’t know what type of film he was trying to buy. It would be a dodgy site or it’s because it’s an odd transaction so they thought fraud and blocked it. That’s all. He should have just confirmed it was him and they’d have unblocked it.

But… maybe he could give the pork a rest? Be a bit less gross.
