AIBU - expectations on relationship

Been together 2 years - 50. Both have teens

Touched upon the 'what next' thing... no plans while kids are at home, except her DD (who I get on very well with) is going to be at home for years.

All is good with us, aside from the future, I would have no issues with us and our respective DD in one house and it seems too good to reject over that, but it also is not what I want, after 2 years I did want more?

What?

Living separately but having an exclusive relationship is the dream!

Why do you need to live together? Presumably you both have individual lives as well as your “couple life”, so is there any need to combine homes?

Ok so I think you’re saying:

Your partner of 2 years doesn’t want any changes in living arrangements while her daughter lives at home, which will be for years

But you would like to move in together before then

minipie · 17/05/2025 23:35

If so I agree with PP - why do you need to move in together?

If you mean you want yo move in together and she doesn’t until her DD is older then I’m with her tbh.

Why potentially ruin a good thing but trying to blend two families under one roof?

Living separately and coming together for quality time is many older people’s perfect relationship - embrace what you’ve got
