a close family member really needs help with managing anger. I appreciate they need to make the first move themselves, but would like to know what the options are so I know how best to steer them. thanks.

Someone I know needed this. I think the best thing to do is speak to GP and they will say whether anger management course is possible in that area.
It is a postcode lottery type of thing. Some areas will have someone to help, others wont.

Alternatively, look in yellow pages and find a qualified therapist (under counsellors, I think) but this can be an expensive option.

Hope that helps.

Yes, first get them to speak to GP - I did a couple of years ago and doc was really understanding and non-judgmental - OK, so I had to wait a couple of months before I got onto a course, by which time the issue had resolved itself, but I still found it really useful - best bit was most of the other people on the course were really "normal" people who you would never think had problems with anger, which made me feel better about it.
