Advice for When Words Don't Match Actions

I found this in my time of need and thought I'd share:

A man who can’t keep his word is a man who can’t be trusted, respected, or taken seriously. All the sweet talk, all the “I got you,” and “I promise” means nothing if his actions don’t match his mouth. Because real men don’t just say things to sound good—they do the things they said they’d do, even when it’s not easy. Especially when it’s not easy.
You can dress it up however you want, but at the end of the day, if you say you’re going to do something, and you don’t? That’s your character speaking. That’s who you are. A man who constantly falls short on his promises, who tells you what you want to hear but never follows through—isn’t unreliable by accident, he’s unreliable by choice. And people like that aren’t just inconsistent with others, they’re inconsistent with themselves.
It doesn’t matter how good he looks. It doesn’t matter how charming he is. It doesn’t matter how fire the chemistry is. If you can’t count on him, you can’t build with him. And a man you can’t build with will only hold you back. Period
A man of his word is a man who values integrity. He keeps his promises not just to impress you, but because his word means something to him. He follows through not because he’s perfect, but because he understands that consistency is how you build trust. He doesn’t need a second reminder, a third excuse, or a fourth chance. When he says he’s gonna show up—he does. When he says he’s gonna protect you—he means it. When he says “you can count on me”—you actually can.
And let’s be clear, it’s not just about the big promises. It’s about the small ones too. The “I’ll call you when I get off.” The “I’ll be there at 8.” The “I got you, don’t worry.”
Because if he can’t even be consistent with the little things… you already know how shaky it’s gonna get when life gets hard.
So ladies, please don’t romanticize potential. Don’t confuse words with effort. Don’t hold onto “he said he would” when he clearly didn’t. A man who keeps his word is a man you can respect, grow with, trust, and lean on.
And fellas—if you wanna be respected, honored, and taken seriously… be a man who means what he says and backs it up. Every time. No excuses.
Because at the end of the day…
If your word don’t mean nothing—neither do you.

This is true of women / siblings / friends / parents / colleagues / partners / relatives too. Not just men.
