Husbands moods

Parents popped in yesterday and my husband didn’t say hello and basically ignored them the whole time they were here (only about 20 mins). I find it so rude and awkward, I asked why when they left and apparently he didn’t do anything wrong! This then started an argument between us. Anyone else’s husband like this ? Feel like I’m walking on eggshells, never knowing what mood he’s going to be in when we have visitors and starting to dread people coming round.

How can you be helped into leaving your abuser?. This is who he really is and this is not going to get any better.

Do not put up with this and indeed start firming up plans to leave him. Walking on eggshells too is code to my mind for living in fear.

FluffyDashhound · 16/03/2025 19:36

Does he mind if he knows there comming

Ph3 · 16/03/2025 19:39

are these visitors announced? Does he have any issues with people popping in if they aren’t?maybe that’s it? But I do think it’s rude and would dread it to. I mean he is an adult and should behave like one. Adaptability is part of life and I know some people who have difficulty with this but he could still stay hello and then excuse himself.

You will end up having no visitors at all, abusers like to isolate their target from support.

Have you spoken to your parents today?.

PinkPootle75 · 16/03/2025 19:41

My hubby does this,it’s so embarrassing.

Nowvoyager99 · 16/03/2025 19:43

Are they expected visitors?

Some people love it when others pop in. I absolutely hate it and would struggle to be hospitable.

Dublinstar · 16/03/2025 20:22

Thanks guys, I know it’s wrong. I just hate the arguments so often keep quiet but yesterday really annoyed me. My parents live locally and pop by maybe once a week, it’s what they have always done. It’s only really the past year it’s become a problem with him. Sometimes he’s fine and chatty and then like yesterday just rude.

A year of this is a year too long. What happened a year ago?.

What are his parents like?.

Dublinstar · 16/03/2025 21:18

You are right. His parents are both dead, I never met them. He always said how awful and miserable his dad was and now it sounds like he’s turned into him !

It's just plain rude!
It's nice to know when they are visiting or about to pop in lest they find you unaware.
Personally I like knowing when people are rocking up at my house but if they do un-annouced, there is no reason for rudeness or absurd treatment as this

knephew · 16/03/2025 22:33

I wouldn’t put up with that from a child let alone a partner. If he’s not embarrassed you should be. You should also leave him. He’s a dick. Imagine treating the family of someone you’re meant to love like that and embarrassing them. Nasty man

outerspacepotato · 16/03/2025 23:01

When you say popped in, do you mean they weren't invited ahead of time and just showed up expecting whatever?

Maybe he's just sick and tired of them barging his home and being in his space when he doesn't want to deal with uninvited people.

That's considered really rude in my part of the world.

Now if they were already invited, different story. He would be the rude one.

YourGoldHedgehog · 16/03/2025 23:07

Sounds rude! He should at least bite his tongue if it is so unbearable and say hi and if he’s busy with something then excuse himself to say he’s busy doing X. Even if he isn’t but just wants to step away.

Not cool how he handled it.

frozendaisy · 17/03/2025 05:04

Can you move in with your parents whilst you sort out a divorce?

Sounds like you would have more happiness there let him wallow in misery alone
