The power of music to change mood

I've just happened a channel on TV that plays bygone hits of various decades. In a heartbeat one song took me back to a happier time and a special relationship. So now I'm melancholy for what kind of life I might have had!
Anyone else?

Yes.. im a firm believer music is food for the soul. It can cheer you up, it can make you cry uncontrollably, it can make you relive certain times in your life or it can also help you through times in your life.
I'm the type of person that uses music for my therapy... I can go from crying one minute to dancing round the room the next 😆

Yes! Music when I’m cooking / cleaning is like therapy.

My favourite song that has to be played super loud always takes me back to when I was 17 and had the best summer -
Music Sounds Better With You, Stardust. 😊

I never watch the telly and my days go from a RatPack Day to a 90s disco day,a Dolly Parton /Barry Mannilow day to Ska and Reggae ...depends on what I feel like. Music is everything to me. I love how it becomes a soundtrack to my life. Infact today I saw something about Robbie Willliams and how settled he now is with his wife and children and I was genuinely so chuffed for him, I grew up with his music and now to see him come so far it was lovely. so todays been a Robbie Take That day! To forget the tunes then remember then the memories flood back 20 years have been epic! Its been a good day!

Totally. I listen to music all day long. If you search Forever on BBC Sounds, 6 Music just had some great programmes on Forever 80s, Forever 90s, Forever 00s, Forever 10s. Just listening to one of the playlists from it.

I am always intrigued by what music does to people - there are lots of studies about music and the brain, and also its role in lowering blood pressure etc.

I remember at the age of about 11 in a class music lesson we sang the Pilgrim's Chorus from Wager's Tannhauser and something completely flipped in my brain. I knew at that moment that music was going to be central to my life - and it has been. But I still do not understand what it was that happened, or indeed what happens at the many concerts I attend.
