So I had a really bizarre conversation with my husband the other day and I don’t know what to think of it.

Basically he said every guy has a women that he secretly fancies the pants off, that for 1 reason or another, he hasn’t managed to get with. And they would pretty much risk their marriage / relationship to sleep with them.
He said name any of his friends and he could tell me who theirs were.
I asked him if he was trying to tell me something, and he said he didn’t have 1, and then changed his tune saying most, not all men do.

What the actual hell? I know it’s quite juvenile, but now I have in my head that he’s fantasizing about another woman. I don’t even understand why he would tell me this even if it was true.

I never understand this " free pass" thing some people are happy with.
It implies that if your DH met Scarlett Johansenn in real life and she was up for it you would happily stand by while they went off to bed together. Is that the case?
I find the idea of a " free pass" quite gross actually if you have a supposedly monogamous relationship.

Just testing the water I guess - see if your reaction was negative or ‘don’t care’

Was he drunk at the time?

Ex of mine said that once and then proceeded to rattle off a list of names including his best friend’s wife.
He always used to tell me that he would speak truths other men wouldn’t dare to.
And also, ‘Peggy I know women have different brains and don’t think this way!’
Cut to a family party a few days later. He casually mentioned someone there looked like an A lister. Think Brad Pitt gorgeous.
It was an old school party with men stood at the bar, and the women sat at tables.
In walked Brad and by God he was gorgeous. About 28, tall, beautifully dressed.
As the drink flowed let me tell you most of the ladies, in glorious detail, described what they’d like to do with Brad given half a chance.
It made me feel much better, because when my then partner, who I will call Frank, was spouting his usually nonsense on the way home, I was thinking I’ve just heard what your mum, Nan, sister and auntie would like to do with your cousin’s best mate Brad.
Frank would literally dribble at the mouth when his best friend’s wife was about, everyone noticed, and she wasn’t interested.
Sadly, Peggy and Frank didn’t last much longer but it did teach me a lesson. Men can be idiots, and they underestimate women.
They all think as well if they met the woman of their dreams - I am thinking Margot Robbie - that she’d leave behind Hollywood to run off with short, balding car salesman Barry.

I just find it ridiculous. Is a 5 minute fumble in bed with another woman worth risking your marriage for?

Have you never ever read Mumsnet before? Tens of thousands of people on here who’ve had their long term relationships trashed all for the sake of a quick shag

I think people (of all genders) have people they fancy (celebs, usually) regardless of whether or not they’re in relationships. It’s harmless, most people have zero intention of acting on said fantasies, and your DH is clearly a bit of an idiot.
