UC & Partners

I recently got a message in my UC journal that said “we have received information you are living with a partner, we want to help all UC claimants to claim the correct amount” etc.
I have recently been blue lighted to hospital with a heart problem and then a few weeks later I broke my spine in 3 places and with having a 3 year old I needed the additional support at home so my boyfriend had been staying to help me out.
He maintains his own property, has a tenancy agreement, pays council tax and utilities on his property and I pay all of my bills. I work part time and claim UC and have never had a penny from him for my bills nor have I ever given him money for his. He was merely here to help with tasks. He bought his own food and he still returned home to do his own washing. I have a feeling I was reported by my ex but I can’t prove it. What happens next? I have replied to say that yes I do have a boyfriend but no we do not live together and can provide you with proof of this and I got a message to say “thank you we will let you know in your journal if you need to do anything else” am I being investigated for fraud? I have no idea. I suffer with anxiety as it is and this is all just stressing me out.
My boyfriend received a Section 21 letter on 09/01 and has until 08/03 to move and we had been discussing him moving in anyways and now I have received this does it look dodgy if I move him in, in March? I can assure everything has been above board but now I am freaking out at the information I have read online about them using surveillance etc. Just to note I have hospital letters for both the heart and the back situation so can back that claim up as to why I needed the support. Has anyone been through similar? What was the outcome?

Given that he has his own home and assuming there are no financial links ie his bank, car insurance etc is all at his address then I cant see that the DWP have a lot to go on.

By definition people have 'non resident' partners who sometimes become resident so moving him in March isnt suspicious especially as he has his own home at th emoment

Hi JohnofWessex appreciate the reply, yes he has his own place and all of his bills come from his account and my bills from my account. No money has been transferred other than one amount for a birthday gift in the whole time we have been with each other. His car insurance and all his post goes to his address. I’ve even got a screenshot of his British Gas statement showing his usage and address and payments etc if need be. It just stresses me out that it’s come at this time that he’s also received the Section 21 as I don’t want them to think this is the only reason we’re doing it because it’s not. We’ve worked our finances out and it makes sense for him to move in rather than funding his own place as we are spending more time together now and the relationship has been ongoing for over a year.
