When I worked for the Probation Service the majority of domestic violence perpetrators were the nicest people I've ever met aka they're good at hiding it. Just if you ever doubt yourself hold that in mind x

Not surprised unfortunately.
My ex was a lovely, smiley guy - everyone's mate. It was just when he'd had a few drinks and was feeling sorry for himself, he'd come home and use me as a punch bag.
I finally got the courage to split up with him when I was pregnant and he threw a door at me. I have to see him occasionally at events for our daughter and he's still all friendly and smiley as if nothing ever happened.

Not surprised either, I read an interesting thread here about someone doubting herself because her ex was so different in public. The amount of similar replies shocked me. However it goes to show that these men can choose to act differently in front of others so it's a choice for them to be abusive to you.
