Daughter in abusive relationship - help please.

My daughter is in an abusive relationship, there is no physical abuse. It's not quite been a year.

I'm remaining calm, gently offering views, opinions, reasoning and she's open to that currently.

I'm looking for resources that I can direct her to that she can look at at her leisure. Like a lot of her age group, she consumes lots of social media content across various platforms - recommendations of accounts to follow would be brilliant or websites online.

I've already said that she should do the Freedom Programme and read Why does he do that?

I fear what she is sharing is the tip of the iceberg and there is much more going on that we don't know about.

Much appreciated.

I think you’ve recommended the best 2 starting options for those in an abusive relationship. There is so much else out there on SM but she’ll find what she’s looking for.
(Dr Ramani is a narcissist expert and has stuff on YouTube etc)
There is Women’s Aid who can help. Police too, if necessary.

She could look at the option of counselling too.

The thing you need to make absolutely clear is that you are there for her. Day or night. You need to support her but let her call the shots. She needs to make the decisions.

Could you do a Clare's Law check on her behalf?

I am following as I am concerned about my DD, though there are no massive red flags, just a feeling (as someone who was in an abusive relationship).
I hope your DD makes the right decision OP.

Molly Geddes a young Scottish girl who found herself in a similar situation has made some resources aimed at young people like your daughter to address the gap of resources and information among this age group. She was interviewed on Crime Analyst podcast by Laura Richards who had let the way for Coercive Control to become a crime. The perspective of a young woman I found very different from the usual peer group I am used to.

If it's been less than a year it is easier for her to get out if they don't have DC or live together. Do all you can to show her it is not acceptable for a man to treat her like that.
