Therapist recommendations

Hi all

I had a thoroughly miserable and abusive childhood and young adulthood which I'm still carrying into my mid 30s.

I need a therapist to talk through my feelings and learn how to let go and heal.

Does anyone have any recommendations? My budget is quite restricted. I'm in the London area if that helps.

Where, approx. in London are you and how limited is your budget?
Have you googled 'discounted therapy London '?
I know Metanoia in West London used to do cheap rates for trainee therapists but obviously they may not be as effective as an experienced therapist.
I would suggest psychotherapy and not CBT for childhood abuse.

I have had discounted rates from therapists in training or renewing their accreditation. FWIW I have had similar possible CPTSD and the most effective treatment I have had have been internal family systems (parts work) and Compassionate Inquiry.

I would also contact NAPAC which is for those abused in childhood.

True. My friend who is a therapist said that people talk over and over about their problems/past traumas until they are bored of hearing themselves talk. Eventually the emotions linked to the memories diminish and they are “fixed”. She is just paid to listen. If your friends and family are fed up of hearing you talk about it, or don’t have the headspace, then paying someone to listen isn’t so bad. Whatever helps I guess.
