DH is a Nag (lighthearted)

This is somewhat lighthearted but also a genuine issue with my DH and I wonder whether anyone else is in a similar position.

My DH is a lovely person, but he always has a list of things that I or we together need to do. Literally every day there’s something that he says has to be done, from life admin to buying a new widget, to repairing X, etc., etc.

Today is Thanksgiving, a national holiday here in the US and all I want to do is relax and enjoy a meal with family. But yet again, earlier this morning DH came up with two things that we need to do! The only time he doesn’t do this is when we’re away on holiday so not very often.

I just wish that he’d stop with the endless “to do” lists. Does anyone else have a partner like this and how do you shut them up?! 🤣

If you actually are making a serious point about your DH and his " to do" list are you not really just describing his personality type? Some people need " to do" lists as a strategy for coping with life.
If not complying with his " to do " list doesn't incur a negative impact on you I don't see what the issue is. It's part of who your DH's is.
If it's not your way of approaching life then you need to decide whether it's something you can live or not.

I meant to add more after my first comment but I was too unwell earlier. I have been very very sick these last few days, I won't bore you with the details but bedridden most of the time.

I've had to leave all, I mean all, the the house and diy jobs to my partner. I am the type who cleans up straight after dinner. He leaves plates on the side and in the sink and deals with it when he feels like it. The dogs water has bits in it, I'd change it straight away he will do it when he next feeds dog unless it's really dirty. The floor isn't clean, he hasn't sorted the Xmas decorations I asked him to, none of the normal jobs are being done because he's running around after me and my pets, still working full time and managing to arrange work party and a ton of other stuff he has on his plate. I have bitten my tongue and I have not put any lists in the chat because he's amazing and has been doing everything, plus waiting on me hand and foot. It's hard though. I want to suggest certain things be done, I catch myself and stop myself!

Is this a reverse? Because is what my DH says about me!

@Anotherparkingthread I hope you’re feeling much better now.

Ironically, I’ve been recovering from an operation for several weeks and although DH has been great with some things, he certainly hasn’t stepped up with housework! I’ve been cleaning where I can, but I can’t stand for long enough to mop or vacuum, or bend down far, so the floors and stairs look terrible!

He’s still making his lists though. 🤣
