Honestly I think a lot of older women have kind of twigged they don't get a great deal from live-in relationships a lot of the time.

If my husband got run over by a bus tomorrow (I'm in my late 40s) I don't think I'd look for another partner - not in an 'I'll never love another!' type of way but more that, much as I love him, a relationship, for the woman, can feel like just another responsibility and I'd suspect at my age I'd just find a lot of men wanting to be looked after or for someone to live with who owns her own place and I just couldn't be bothered.

Not saying you're any of those, but I think for women my age, far better than a car, or house or your own teeth is that you do your own laundry, can you cook and clean up, are ycompetent at organising yourself and won't default to letting your partner do it all once you're settled in.

This 51 year old is about to get up & go to the gym for an hour of cardio & weightlifting. I feel as I’m in a different generation from someone who calls themselves ‘51 years young’.

I’m early forties and married but if for some reason I was looking to date/ have a relationship, I would be looking for a man who I was attracted to (obviously, but this just means there’s a spark there and is as much if not more about personality, probably combined with nice eyes or something. I don’t care a huge amount about looks. A lot of people don’t have all of their teeth by 50 in my world, also don’t really care about this. But it’s really off putting to mention it, especially if you’re not over 70).
I’d also be looking for someone who could make me laugh (probably most important tbh) and who was interesting and wanted to have a good time together.
There’s no way I’d be looking to start all over with another life partner. I’d have no interest in living together or having joint finances so them having their own car/ house etc would be their own business.
I’d have zero time for any drama or bs.
And I would certainly not be putting myself in a position where I was going to be looking after anybody or being responsible for them.
Anyway, I also call bs on the op, those are just my musings on the subject.
