I've een seeing a guy for a few weeks. This morning we met for breakfast at a local cafe.
He ordered toast with butter. Instead of just picking it up and eating it normally he pulled bits off, rolled them into ballS, appeared to suck the butter off then eat them. Meaning it took about 25 mins for him to actually finish the piece of toast. His hands and mouth were covered in a buttery greasy mess, not to mention the excessive crumbs all over the table 🤢 it was like dining with a messy toddler. I had to tell him to wash his hands afterwards as they were so covered in butter. Was making me feel quite ill.
Other than this he's a nice guy, we've eaten together before and no issues. But this is the first time he's had toast whilst with me.

To do it is gross, but to do it publicly in front of you, and in a public place shows no social awareness at all. Either that or he wants to break up and has decided this is the best way 🤣

What people do in their own home is their business but when dining in public it's just basic manners to eat food without making a mess.

I would have had to ask him if he was once one of those feral children living in the wild before being found and introduced back into polite society but unfortunately the habit of eating like a wild pig had stayed with him.

This will be the start of more unsavoury habits unfolding.

I had a friend in secondary school who used to do that with chewits and opal fruits. I thought it was weird but there was none of the grease involved from butter which makes yours weird AND disgusting. Plus he's an adult not a 13 year old girl so....

Urgh! Imagine if you stay with him and you eventually live together, he will do this for breakfast everyday!

Yes it would put me off. As an aside, a friend of mine with an eating disorder does this. She thinks if she just picks food up and eats it she will look greedy and people will look at her and be disgusted, so she messes with it and takes tiny mouthfuls.

Even just the fact her ordered toast and butter? It doesn't exactly scream adventurous, rock and roll, avante gard as a breakfast option. But at least eat it properly fgs!
Imagine how messy he'd be with a sandwich, or pasta and sauce? Yeah. I'd say that's pretty off-putting.

How do you roll toast in to balls? Wouldn’t the butter be on the inside? Struggling to picture it! But yeah very ick.
