went to gp today to discuss my doubts over my past chlamydia diagnosis.
it was 7 years ago now ,both me and dh were treated even tho his test was negative .
i wanted my gp to reasure me that our 2 dc were not in anyway going to be harmed by the fact that i had given birth to them while harbouring this infection.he said that no they dont have it and that you cant give it to babies this way.so im glad i picked up the courage to ask.
i asked him how come dh didnt catch it from me ,he said that can happen so now i know that my previous boyfriend must of given it to me before it had met my dh.im very angry at him for putting me and potentially my dh and kids through this.
i must say that id only ever slept with two men my dh and pevious partner .i was so shocked at the gum clinic when they told me that i had an std,it was an awful moment that i will never forget ,i was blaming my dh and he was blaming me ,accusations of cheating were flying about.we worked through it all and were still together.
i just wanted other people to know that it only takes one time of having sex with someone infected with chlamydia to catch it,if you dont know their sexual history then PLEASE use a condom.

Awful, awful infection.

In some parts of the country they now test for it during pregnancy because if a woman has it at the time their baby is birthed it can cause:

Chlamydial conjunctivitis at 10 days old.
Requiring 4 weeks oral antibiotics and close monitoring.
If in worst case scenario, treatment is delayed, the bacterial attack can cause the eyballs to erode.

Bacterial pneumonia at 6 weeks.
Obvious potential outcome.
Long course of antibiotics given for clearance of chlamydial conjunctivitis often clears system of bacteria entirely but babies with chlamydia dont always present with the conjunctivitis first.

Babies do not catch chlamydia of the reproductive system during birth but can and do present with it in the ways I've mentioned.

Women who have chlamydia at the time of birth can lose their fertility as the open cervix allows the bacteria to make its way to its target all the more easily and disasterously quickly.

The above is information provided by my consultant and consultant opthalmologists upon contracting the infection when pg, due to exP's flipping fling.

It really is information which should be more widely known! Fair play blanketyb.

my dd 2 did have a bad eye infection shortly after birth swabs were taken and nothing found ,my gp said they would of tested for that at the time even though at that point i didnt know i had it ,its procedure.
gp said that it was probably unrelated to the clamydia,it was a separate matter (diagnosed with blocked tear ducts).
i still blame myself ,on the other hand ds 1 didnt have any thing wrong with him.and after i was treated i went on to have ds3,im so glad it didnt affect my fertility ,hopefully yours will be ok to.
