Myself and my long term partner (ex) have split up, we have decided that he will pay move out but pay a share of the mortgage and I will stay in the property until both the children are 18 and then sell. This hasn’t been done legally/through the courts just something we have both agreed on.
My question is since we will both be down as owning the property will this have an affect on some benefits I can claim such as single persons council tax discount and working tax credit etc? I work full time however I’ll obviously be paying my half of the mortgage, all the bills and some personal debt so will be a big financial strain, I’ve never had to claim a benefit in my life (not that it’s anything wrong with it) just a bit clueless and trying to find out if there’s any help out there!
