To feel my DSis has changed..

DSis and I grew up in a very modest household. We were in a one income household and had help boo a tax credits. Our parents were extremely careful with money so we never went into debt but we didn't have much as a result and so little things meant a lot. I would say my childhood was very happy, I have always enjoyed the small things like good book, and a nice walk in the fresh air.

My Dsis used to be similar, but since she's been with BIL she's somewhat changed.
These days the little things mean nothing to her. She has been a bit obsessed with other people's wealth. Her and BIL regularly talk about so and so over the road, they have a 6 figure salary but nothing to show for it. This other person they know has an expensive Range Rover. Their friend owns a business and they're able to go to Dubai 5 times a year etc.
The conversation always falls to money. What someone has etc. if someone they knows buys something, they know exactly how they paid for it, and they'll revel in letting us know they got it on finance etc.

I find it difficult to understand this kind of chat, as I don't really care about finances, it doesn't have any meaning for me, I'm more interested in someone's kindness and humour, what stories they can tell me etc. it makes me feel uneasy, not only because this isn't me, but because Dsis has changed. She is a retail worker and her DH works in sales so they wouldn't be classed as particularly wealthy either. It's almost like they long to be wealthy and idolise people who are, yet at the same time fall jealous of those same people.

Anyway my DH is now finding it difficult to spend any time with them, and I get what he's saying, tbh so am I. It feels like we don't have common ground and I am disliking their company more and more.

Is this a phase? I wish I had my old sister back.
