Family member hacked into socials?

I posted this in Tech but maybe the wrong area. I got an email from instagram saying there was an attempted log in (it didn’t display location but I’m working on downloading information).

This is triggering me from something which happened ten years ago - a very close family member hacked into my fb account. I got a email from fb with their very specific remote town attached - nobody else I know lives there. They initially lied but a few years later admitted it, and thought I knew / forgot they had lied. We had a big fight as I was so upset as had numerous personal private messages on there too. I’m really not over it.
im wondering if it may be them doing this again. We currently have a toxic / grey rock / distant relationship but the person in question has always seemed very competitive with me. Just looking for thoughts really. I’ve never gotten over the fb hacking.

On all of your social medias you need to go into settings then privacy and the 'turn on two factor authentication', it will send a text to your phone with a code each time you log in to your social medias so you can input the code before you gain access. I think all platforms offer it. So each time someone tries to log in, it'll come up with an option 'send code' and they'll just click off it and give up because how embarrassing is that. You getting an alert when whoever it is attempts to log into your Instagram.

My ex keeps doing this with me, he denies it but who else would be bothered to do it. As long as you have this security setting on, it won't be infiltrated. Make sure you put it on for your emails too.

There's very little you can do to tackle it but there's things you can put in place to prevent it.

Take care.

Just be careful it wasn’t a scam email - I sometimes get these from “Facebook”, together with spelling mistakes etc.
