Hi,
I have a friend of several years who I met on the school playground. Our kids now go to different schools but she still wants to control meeting up. By this I mean our kids don’t ask each other, she asks about dates during the holidays and can my child come round for dinner etc. my child is getting older and no longer wants to be told we have to meet up or she’s been invited round for dinner. She has said she doesn’t want to. What do I do?

Outside of these play dates, do you see much of each other? Do you want to continue the friendship or just let it fade, now your children are at different schools?

Yes we see each other every couple of weeks or so. We sometimes meet during half terms but it’s mostly organised by her and we just go along with it. I’m happy to keep in contact but don’t know how to not involve my child who doesn’t want to be told she’s going round for tea or a sleepover…
